    Masaya Thailand | Furniture

Masaya, established by outdoor bronze garden accessories brand, Asia Collection, in 2016, specializes in handcrafted indoor brass furniture and homeware. Using the lost wax casting method, Masaya creates unique pieces with organic shapes and lines rarely found in brass furniture. 5. Māzú Resortwear
Māzú Resortwear Hong Kong, China | Fashion

Born and raised in Hong Kong, then educated in the UK, founder Adam Raby was working in advertising and sports apparel, when he observed that Asia offers no representation of men's swimwear, and thus Māzú Resortwear was born.

Hong Kong has always had an intimate relationship with the sea – local fishermen, distant travelers, and avid sailors have all respected the waters that hug the verdant hills of its coastline. A true blend of tradition and modernity, Māzú Resortwear pays homage to the city's rich maritime history, incorporating traditional colors, local motifs, such as junk boats, and upcycled ocean plastic fabric to create Asia-inspired resort wear.

Māzú Resortwear's fabrication has an extremely soft-to-touch hand feel with a durability and texture of a luxury product, while aglets are handcrafted and gilded to resemble a traditional monkey fist knot. The double needle stitching and point d'arrêt finish indicate that the construction of each pair has been done with such effort as to ensure that the shorts not only look great from the outside, but also look and feel great on the inside.

Māzú Resortwear's luxury hotel and resort collaborations include Aman, COMO, Potato Head, Shangri La, St Regis, the Surin, Alila, Wynn, the Datai, the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, and MGM Grand.

  11. MONMAYA
    MONMAYA Japan | Furniture

Based in the home of the traditional Japanese "Sendai-Tansu" or warrior's chest of drawers, MONMAYA is one of the most renowned brands producing authentic chests. Having practiced and preserved the craft for over seven generations, the brand has developed unmatched skill and reputation in the furniture manufacturing sector.

MONMAYA is known for using traditional materials like Japanese grown timber, Joboji lacquer (extracted from trees in the Iwate prefecture, Japan), and artisan-made tools that are spirited by their ingenuity to create timeless designs. MONMAYA also provides repair services to turn old inheritance into functional statement pieces.

Until the early 1920s, "Sendai-Tansu" manufacturing was mainly done through the division of labor. It was the third successor Tamizo, who wanted the "Tansu" craftsmen to carry out their craft with responsibility and pride. He started a system where one whole cabinet can be custom-made and repaired. Through the system, many craftsmen were trained to top standards. In inheriting his belief, MONMAYA continues to train craftsmen and manufacture no different from the past, as they must enable such traditional skills to be inherited into the future.

Feeling frustrated and desperate, she studied the east and the west medical journals and with her skincare science knowledge, she developed a natural baby balm that can ease baby’s itches immediately and eventually heal the eczema. The baby balm also marked the birth of her skincare company.

Today, her product line includes shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, sun tan lotion, lip balm, bug spray, massage oil, facial cleanser, toner + serum, hand cream, as well as skincare sets for mom + baby, all of which are natural, organic, and food grade with 100% plant-derived formulations.

Mylène Viggers Art Singapore | Art

Mylène Viggers is a French artist based in Singapore specializing in plein air (outdoor) oil painting.

Whether adventuring deep into the jungle with her easel, paints, and brushes, working in her garden, or at a local park or beach, she loves to observe the optimism and joy of the nature that surrounds her and to capture the scenes and colors on her canvas. With bold and instinctive brush strokes, applying deliciously thick oil paint, her paintings communicate a sense of the abundance and exuberance of the tropical plants and trees that grow profusely around her. She lets her imagination burst out through the use of a palette of bright colors.

She lives in a black-and-white bungalow next to the jungle and is surrounded by lush greenery which is a huge source of inspiration for her. She has filled the white walls of her home with her work, all the better to bring the life force of nature into her interior.

Mylène is also now traveling more broadly in Asia, taking her painting kit wherever she goes and encapsulating those souvenirs on canvas.
