Nagisa Shirai was born in Japan in 1991. At a young age, Shirai has already won many ceramic awards and is a rising star in Japan's ceramic art world.
She developed her own unique technique blended with the traditional Japanese technique of suminagashi (墨流し), meaning floating ink, by waving the tip of the pen on the water surface to make the ink flow. Her signature includes forming endless and mesmerizing wave textures by using her own interpretation, along with white colored paint that expresses her Japanese aesthetics.
Her works have been exhibited in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
