In Tilt, the artist added more nuances to create a tighter composition. The work is a fictional scene that embodies many aspects of his cityscape techniques - tone, perspective, leading lines, the interplay of it all, and how painterly techniques made in the studio create an expression of what a city scene looks and more importantly, feels like to him. Many parts of the painting are left loose, disjointed, and fragmented - balanced well enough without the entire piece falling apart. Everything is painted deliberately, yet at the same time allows enough room for surprises and beautiful mistakes to arise.

Digital cityscapes are Nicholas Choong’s conduit for expression. They are both a passion project and an experiment that arose from the copious amounts of digital files which the artist personally shot and edited over the past 5 years. The result of this experiment is a unique, one of a kind signature visual that marries the digital and physical worlds. These are products of love and careful attention, crafted over many sittings in front of the computer. While the mediums and context differ throughout time, the quest for beauty and honest expression remains.
