WUFU Cup - Five Fortune Series (Riches)
Wufu, or the five fortunes, is the blessing of a good life in Chinese culture, originating from the "Shang Shu-Zhou Shu-Great Plan" - long life, riches, soundness of body and serenity of mind, love of virtue, and fulfilling the will to the end.
The Wufu Host Cups, a collaboration between COMIVERSE and the Hong Kong Palace Museum, were inspired by an antique from the Qing Dynasty housed at the Palace Museum, an imperial seal with a jade hornless dragon handle also known as the "Treasure of the Seventy-Year-Old Emperor Blessed with Five Fortunes and Five Generations”.
The design follows the concept of making life as beautiful as flowers and blessing it with long-lasting fortune. The images of the five fortunes have been extracted and combined with the auspicious symbols of imperial blossoms. The piece is an artistic interpretation of the ancient antique, covered in a bright azure enamel.
