Gato Mikio Shouten: Balancing Tradition and Change
April 11, 2022
“Shinafu” is an archaic Japanese word meaning “elegantly hanging”. The shape of the Sinafu Serving Bowl was designed to reflect the traditional forms and spirit of hospitality of the Yamanaka Hot Spring, a 1,300-year old cultural icon. The Sinafu series does not only express warm hospitality with beautiful arrangements on bowls and dishes but also literally makes your hands’ movements look more graceful.
The bowls have a polyurethane finish. As each item is handmade, there might be some textural irregularities.
