This is the second set of artwork produced by KANJIAN in 2013. Designed by Jeff Dah-Yue Shi and made in Taiwan, the set is made of purion, which is a mixture of natural mineral ore and pottery clay. "Neither round nor square, whatever the destiny is, just be yourself and without consideration of rules." This is a quote from the book Design Drawing of Incense Burners written by Yuchu Ding during the Qing Dynasty.

In Chinese, the word for rules or boundary (guize) is composed of 2 characters, gauge (gui) and torque (ze), which correspond with the measurement of circles and squares respectively.

The Pottery Teapot mixes circle with square in its form, creating a unique shape of its own, while each teacup has a round mouth supported by a square base, echoing the teapot. The spout is placed on the side of the pot instead of the typical center, symbolizing that the design is breaking the usual consideration of rules.

Care Instruction Usage: Before first use, place the tea set in boiled water for 5 minutes to clean and disinfect. The teapot is designed for making tea only; please refrain from heating on the stove directly.

Cleaning: Do not rub the tea set with rough or sharp objects. Clean the tea set with hot water rather than chemical detergent. Do not keep tea in the pot for an extended period of time. Rinse the tea leaves out of the tea pot and pour boiled water into the pot after each use. After letting the hot water sit for several minutes, remove the lid, pour out the water and let the teapot completely dry before storage.
