Tastemaker interView: Caroline Cheng
November 9, 2023
Caroline Cheng, the founder of Yi Design Group, shares insights on conscious design.
The Sukpha Stool was inspired by the simple structure of low stools often seen as a furniture staple in Asian cultures. In Thailand, they can be found everywhere in different shapes and materials.
The Thai people traditionally hand wash their clothes sitting on a low stool with water in a large bucket. The word “sukpha” meaning “to wash clothes” pays an homage to the popular low stool.
The Sukpha Stool celebrates and reimagines the spirit of simple and practical vernacular design through color and pattern play - creating a stool for the everyday.
