Kade Chan, the Founding Chairman of Hong Kong Origami Academy, is a professional origami artist and product/ graphic designer. Born in 1993, he started folding paper at the age of 12. He graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Design with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial and Product Design. Today, Kade Chan has more than 300 original origami designs and over 16 years of experience in origami teaching. He has also organized more than 500 public events and collaborated with luxury brands such as Ferragamo, Lamborghini, and Bottega Veneta.
Kade Chan has received a great deal of recognition for his designs and has been the recipient of many international origami awards and honors. Most notably, in 2012, he received the Éric Joisel Award from Origami Canada. In 2013, he became the first Chinese to receive the Yoshino Issei Fund from the Japan Origami Academic Society, one of the most prestigious awards in the origami community. In 2019, Kade Chan was invited by the TEDx Victoria Harbour to be a guest speaker and to share his love for origami art with the world. The same year, he collaborated with the Hong Kong Jockey Club and achieved a new Guinness World Record together for the largest origami lesson. In 2020, Kade Chan was named one of Hong Kong’s Ten Most Outstanding Young Persons.
