Pouf-01
While modern machines may be able to mimic traditional weaving and the use of synthetic, plastic rattan has risen, the creation of each of our poufs is a long process that starts from harvesting the natural palms to drying, prepping, and then weaving each piece by hand.
This handwoven rattan pouf features a split malaka weave. Available in 2 coordinating sizes, the pouf makes the perfect soft seating in a living room, bedroom, or playroom. Add a tray and it can also be used for serving.
In contrast with synthetic rattan commonly used for fast furniture, our natural and sustainably sourced rattan comes from locally grown palms which are endemic to the Philippines.
Imprints of prehistoric mat weaving in the Philippines have been found on pottery and iron artifacts. Today these traditional techniques are still evident in the meticulous weaving and plaiting of natural leaves and grasses used for mats and baskets.
