Metropolis was created to celebrate and reflect the energy of any city in the world. Although inspired by Hong Kong, where founder Kevin Chu was born, SUGO reinterpreted the “buildings” of the city into more abstract shapes with the slanting geometry mimicking a 3-dimensional perspective of buildings + movement in architectural form. Each of the 4 air purifying acrylic “building” screens can be combined and layered freely to recreate every cityscape on the planet.
Just like the Guilin Lamp, Metropolis shares the same stainless-steel base which allows for infinite combinations of “buildings”, and when placed adjacent to each other, they create an amazing glowing “Lampscape”. SUGO conceived both Metropolis and Guilin as illumination sculptures that throw creativity back to the end consumer, and no two “Lampscapes” will ever be the same as we are all individuals with our own creative freedom of choice.
