Kaneko Kohyo was founded in 1921, when founder Ito Kohyo chose the site for the original kilns at the top of a small mountain near Toki City, Gifu Prefecture – the center of production for traditional Mino Ware ceramics.
Based on ancient techniques and local know-how, Kaneko Kohyo strives to preserve gastronomic history and traditions that hark back to the much-admired local Mino-yaki pottery style.
Originally Japan's largest producer of tokkuri sake serving bottles, Kaneko Kohyo now strives to create new designs that meet and exceed the senses and needs of discerning consumers seeking originality, beauty, and functionality for their dining and entertaining pleasure.
Kaneko Kohyo has expanded greatly across Japan and internationally, being selected for use by Japan and Europe's finest chefs and luxury brands.
