The artist, Lisa Wong, seeks to find and convey the elegance in imperfection and transience. She uses symbolism to disect the complexity of human emotions in her works. Coffee Break is a brightly-hued acrylic creation that tells a story of the condition through a means of anthropomorphism and the natural world.
In the artist's perspective, the mind’s internal boudoir is a sacred place of sorts - a conglomeration of objects and images that come together to form a room. The still life that she portrays to the viewers is one that only exists on the surface of the canvas and in her mind. Each time Lisa paints, she builds a new space from scratch, expanding and travelling, taking objects that resonate with her, that she covets and has fond memories of.
