Chada Joox - Rice and Soup Bowl

Lacquerware has now become uncommon and rarely found. This weaving container is coated multiple times with Urushi sap to make it strong enough to hold liquid or food. Urushi Lacquer sap is known for its natural anti-bacterial properties. Urushiol, an ingredient of lacquer, is highly anti-bacterial; most foodborne pathogenic bacteria will not survive beyond 6 hours after in contact with it. 

Each item is made to order and handmade by a specific individual artisan.
